For many show organizers, digital events have become a successful way to extend a show brand, reach new and bigger audiences and even provide new revenue opportunities. Simply offering the same format can get stale, especially in the digital space. Kushner and Derek Jenkins, Event Director, CIO Summits, CDM Media will explore the ways show organizers can take their digital events to the next level, including new format options, monetization tactics as well as spin-offs.

“This webinar is a great way for me to share my insights into how digital environments can be part of any organization’s business strategy moving forward. I plan to showcase the broadening use of digital solutions and outline how event organizers can use these environments to create a solid return on investment,” said Kushner.

Kushner has held various sales and business development positions at companies such as Forbes, Inc., The Nielsen Company and Reed Elsevier, where he oversaw the streaming media business and the development of interactive digital content platforms. He also pioneered live editorial webcast series, the capturing and repurposing of content from physical conferences and trade shows and has developed numerous branded Virtual events and Expos. At UBM Studios, Kushner works with both internal and external clients in the development of integrated media strategies using next-generation digital business solutions.

May 15, 2012–UBM Studios today announced that Kristin Beaulieu, SVP Sales & Development, East, will speak at the Society of Government Meeting Professionals’ 30th Annual National Education Conference, which will be held in New Orleans May 16-19, 2012. The conference is the biggest annual event in the government meetings industry and is where government professionals from across the country come together for education, resources and networking.

On Thursday, May 17 at 4:15 p.m. at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside and Friday, May 18 at 8:30 a.m. at the New Orleans Convention Center, Beaulieu will join a panel of experts to examine “How Hybrid Events Can Extend the Life and Reach of your Physical Event Programs.” Hybrid events are an important way to turbo charge an event before, during and after the physical program. As a pre-event tactic, hybrid events can help drive traffic to an event. By streaming an event live, producers can extend the reach of events to create a growing community and enhance relationships. Developing a collaborative environment for physical event attendees and virtual event attendees is also critical to heightening audience engagement. This panel will examine how digital environments can enhance physical events. Attendees will learn to create successful hybrid solutions to optimize the effectiveness of their physical events. Other panel participants include Steve Boyce, Vice President, Business Development, INXPO and Michael Doyle, Executive Director, Virtual Edge Institute.

“Today hybrid environments can be offered in a variety of creative formats to complement physical programs. Steve, Michael and I will discuss various scenarios that have been proven successful,” said Beaulieu. “We’re looking forward to helping government meeting professionals understand the benefits of adding hybrid environments to their repertoire.”

With more than 15 years of experience, Beaulieu has a track record of significantly growing revenue in both the virtual media and publishing markets. Beaulieu held a variety of positions at Ziff Davis Media; most recently, she was Senior Vice President at Ziff Davis Enterprise – Event Sales. While at Ziff Davis Media, Beaulieu created and built a $6M virtual event business – eSeminars; led the company’s International Licensing group; and launched PCMagCast, a virtual event business created specifically for PC Magazine’s audience. In addition, Beaulieu held several positions with InXpo where she implemented virtual event business strategy and managed key publishing and enterprise accounts including Tech Target, Red7 Media, ZDE, Bank of America and EMC. Earlier, Beaulieu held key marketing positions with several dotcoms.

Game Changing Approach to Traditional Career Fairs Makes it Faster and Easier to Connect Employers with Veterans

CHICAGO, May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ – Milicruit, the recognized leader in virtual career fairs for veterans, and military spouses, today announced that more than 3,300 veterans and military spouses have been hired by the industry leading employers who have signed on for the 10,000 Jobs for Veterans and Military Spouses Challenge www.10000jobs.com in just two months.

As part of the challenge, Milicruit has agreed to host monthly national virtual career fairs that are open to active duty, guard/reservists, veterans, and military spouses. In addition to the virtual career fairs, Milicruit through a partnership with DirectEmployers Association has also launched Milicruit Crosswalk, which allows veterans to search for jobs with all the employers in Milicruit virtual career fairs in one location.

“When we started the challenge, we knew we wanted to be able to show actual results of those hired and therefore we required employers to report back each month on exactly how many veterans and spouses they have hired. We expected good results because we knew our employer partners recognized and valued the skills and talent veterans and military spouses bring to the workforce, but over 3,300 in just two months far exceeds our expectations, and is a testament to the employers who are actually doing the hiring,” stated Kevin O’Brien, vice president of business development, Milicruit.

Employers from a wide range of industries have signed on to take the 10,000 Jobs Challenge including; American Red Cross, Aetna, Arise, Camping World and Good Sam, CBRE, CHS Medical, Citi, Convergys, DaVita, DISH Network, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, General Motors, Graybar, IHG, IM Flash, Level 3 Communications, Lowe’s, Penske Truck Leasing, Pepsi Beverages Company, Pfizer, Philips, Progressive, Sears, State Street Corporation, The SI Organization, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Union Pacific, Waste Management, and Xerox Business Services.

Milicruit will host a nationwide virtual career fair on May 23, 2012 that will feature more than 40 employers representing in excess of 24,000 jobs available. Service members and military spouses are encouraged to register today to reserve their space in these ground-breaking events at www.veteranscareerfair.com.

Unlike a traditional career fair, the virtual career fairs allows employers to meet and interact with talent from all over the country/world in one day, and without the cost, burden or environmental impact typically associated with traveling to and from physical venues.

Supported Co-Located BIOMEDevice, Design & Manufacturing New England and Electronics New England Shows April 25-26, 2012, in Boston, MA

CHICAGO, May 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — UBM Studios, the global leader in digital events, environments and communities, today announced its Mobile Event Application supported UBM Canon’s co-located BIOMEDevice, Design & Manufacturing New England and Electronics New England event, which took place April 25-26, 2012 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, MA. The new application allows event producers to generate new revenue streams while connecting exhibitors, sponsors and attendees with relevant updates and content before, during and after an event.

eMarketer recently predicted that 81.3 million tablets will be sold in 2012 alone, up from 15.7 million in 2011. Tablet devices will become a primary means for consumers to access nearly all forms of digital content in the very near future.

“On average we are seeing approximately 35 percent of attendees using the mobile event applications. However, with strong marketing and by offering a web portal in advance of an event the number of app downloads can exceed event attendance,” said Kate Spellman, President, UBM Studios. “The mobile event applications enhance an attendees experience and enable sponsors and exhibitors to get their messages to the right audience.”

The UBM Canon Boston 2012 mobile app and its accompanying desktop web portal provide event attendees, which include medical technology and electronics professionals, with a new way to experience the co-located event. The desktop web portal offers the same information as the mobile app and allows users to plan attendance at the event and view content when they return to the office from their personal computer.

Attendees are able to plan their schedules by viewing and selecting the sessions and exhibitors they are interested in by creating a personal agenda communicating with other attendees and exhibitors and requesting appointments; view, pan, zoom and locate the sessions and exhibitors through interactive mapping; exhibitor, sponsors and other attendees can send messages to attendees who access the portal/mobile app; and spread news about the event and stay up-to-date on the latest information using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media. Additionally, attendees are able to search by company name, speaker/attendee name, keyword searches and interests to find relevant content.

The native mobile app is available through iTunes for the iPhone and iPad and the Android Marketplace for Android phones and tablets. Users can also access the mobile app through the MobileWeb for the BlackBerry.

The UBM Canon Boston 2012 mobile app and its accompanying desktop web portal is available at: http://showcase2.eventgenie.com/ubmcanonboston2012/

“The attendee experience was transformed with the UBM Canon Boston 2012 mobile app. Not only were our attendees able to personalize their event experience in advance of the conference by identifying the sessions, exhibitors, speakers and other show features that interested them, but they were able to have all of this information with them throughout the event to ensure they got the most out of the conference. By partnering with UBM Studios we were able to take our event to the next level. The feedback we have received from our sponsors, exhibitors and attendees is very positive,” said Amy Lindstrum, Director of Business Operations, Events, UBM Canon.

Additionally, the Mobile Event Application was utilized at the co-located AeroCon; ATX South; Design & Manufacturing South; Electronics South; Green Mfg Expo South; and SouthPack event, which took place May 2-3, 2012 in Charlotte, NC.

The Mobile Event Application will also be utilized at the following co-located UBM Canon events:

Process Technology for Industry; Int’l Powder & Bulk Solids; ChemProcess; ProcessPack; PharmaProcess; and FoodProcess event, which will take place May 8-10, 2012 in Chicago, IL

Many organizations are wondering how to continue the conversation with those who attended their physical events and conferences. UBM Studios took part in helping sister company, UBM Electronics, find a solution to this problem. Their Design West event has transformed into UBM Design – a digital environment that reaches attendees year-round, introduces upcoming events and provides a customizable area for users to collect content. An article in Folio: Magazine lays out this innovative plan to keep audiences coming back. Linda Uslaner, marketing director of events with UBM Electronics says:

We wanted to increase the amount of interaction that people had on the site, as well as what they do before, during and after the conference. Design On Demand is a large portion of Design West’s content offerings. Conference attendees are able to access presentations, white papers and video from the event…
